Garston Bowls Club (GBC) have celebrated another fruitful season on the green, claiming glory in district, county and national competitions.
The club retained the Hertfordshire Club Championship for an unprecedented fourth year in a row, giving them now 20 unbeaten games in this competition.
GBC also finished in second place in the English National Bowls Finals.
Individually, GBC’s own Dylan Martin came a valiant second in the National U25 Singles Final, while fellow GBC player Glenn Williams reached the final of the National Mixed Pairs.
GBC also claimed county victories in Men’s Fours, Men’s O55s Fours, U25 Singles and U25 Pairs, as well as finishing as county runners-up in the Ginder Trophy after appearing in their third consecutive final of the competition.
Following this, the annual end-of-season gala finale was held in memory of Diana Martin, wife and mother of a family of bowlers from GBC. The club hosted 16 teams in aid of raising money for Asthma + Lung UK. The competition was fittingly won by Diana’s family, and a total of £1,000 was raised for the charity.
