Published on: 2nd January 2020   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Hard-working nurses, doctors, midwives and managers at Watford General Hospital featured in a special one-off concert for Christmas.

The documentary called Gareth Malone Christmas Concert, stared the renowned choirmaster Gareth Malone and featured staff from West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and hit the nation’s TV screens on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Seventy staff from the trust made it into the ranks of the choir and gave up their time after work to be put through their musical paces by Gareth.

The show followed the stories of staff, patients and their families in the run up to Christmas.

It also showed how in six short weeks, the choir came together to give a performance of a lifetime.

Watford General Hospital opened its wards and departments to a small production team from Swan Films who filmed Gareth and staff over a typically busy winter.

The film showcased the working life of the hospital and the commitment and care of staff, many of whom will be working on Christmas Day.

WHHT chief executive Christine Allen said: “It was such a pleasure to see our staff perform at the concert.

“They are so talented and to have delivered such impressive performances after a very short period of rehearsal is truly inspiring.

“We are very grateful to Gareth Malone for bringing our choir together and long may it continue.”
