CHAULDEN ATHLETIC: Hemel Hempstead football team battle for promotion

Published on: 25th February 2022   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Chaulden Athletic FC (CAFC) are a Hemel Hempstead football team that has been in a competitive league since September 2020.

CAFC was initially formed two and a half by a few school friends from The Hemel Hempstead School, with some living in Chaulden and going to Chaulden Junior School.

CAFC player Safyan Mahmood said: “This season had a pretty inconsistent start, winning one week and losing the next, for a couple of months. During November and December, we managed to go on a run of five league games unbeaten while battling for promotion.

“After Christmas CAFC haven’t been on the best form, going five games without a win. We hope to put a good run of form together in the aim to get promoted to Division 2 of the Berkhamsted Sunday League.”

CAFC are currently 7th in Division 3 of the Berkhamsted Sunday League. Standout performances of the season so far come from Jack Pugh against Mayland Forest FC, Safyan Mahmood against Ashridge Albion and Daniel Scott and Nick Buckthorpe for consistent Centre Back performances. The team were pleased to win the Bill Crawley cup for sportsmanship in the 2020/21 season.
