CHAT AND SHARE: Pinner Synagogue event helps residents stay connected

Published on: 2nd April 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Pinner Synagogue has helped residents feel less isolated throughout the pandemic by hosting weekly pop up cafes on Zoom.

The ‘chat and share’ weekly event moved online at the start of lockdown last year and has over 60 regular attendees from juniors to 90+ who chat over a virtual coffee and hear from a different guest with a local connection each week.

Past guests have included MP David Simmonds CBE, Baron Daniel Finkelstien of Pinner and Simon Ovens Deputy Lieutenant for the Borough of Harrow.

Leonie Lewis, pop-up cafe coordinator said: “Thanks to the many people who join every week and to a couple of anonymous donors who help support the Pop up Cafe.”

The event takes place every Thursday from 10.30am for 45 minutes via Zoom. The lineup for April includes Rabbi Coten, Poetry time with Judy Karbritz and Merrill Dresner and a spy story to remember from Maisie Holland.

The weekly meetings provide a useful link to community matters and help combat loneliness. To find out more or sign up visit pinnershul.org
