A professional singer from Kings Langley struck gold towards the end of last year when he shot to the top of the iTunes jazz chart.
Kevin Hill Junior has worked in the music industry for over 15 years but was forced to change profession when the pandemic hit.
This did not stop him from producing music, as his cover of Baby It’s Cold Outside shot up to the top spot before Christmas and he is now set to release his debut album in the coming months.
Kevin said that he has always had an interest in music due to his family roots.
He said: “My mum was a singer, I grew up listening to her, although I couldn’t sing at the time I was terrible, but I had a love for music.
“I just sort of found my voice later on at around 16 and took it from there.”
Kevin added that he had spoken to friends about their previous success in the iTunes jazz chart and he was hopeful.
He said: “I spoke to some friends who are singers and they had the same sort of the success. But by the end of the day it had started to fizzle out but mine stayed there for three days which is quite impressive.
“It was in the top 10 for about a week.”
Kevin is now working on recording the vocals for his first debut album, with the first single set to be released this month.
He said: “I recorded part of the album two years ago, all the music is done I’ve just to do the vocals.”
