A Rickmansworth man raised an impressive £360 for a cancer scanner centre by completing the annual London to Brighton bike ride.
Philip Gibbs, a 65-year-old retired headteacher, took part in the 55-mile race from Clapham Common to the East Sussex seafront on Sunday, September 11, to raise money for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood.
The money raised will go towards making sure the medical charity can continue to provide high-quality cancer imaging services.
Philip said: “I have been a supporter of Paul Strickland Scanner Centre for a number of years and wanted to do something different to raise funds for them this year. I was really pleased with the ride. It’s the third time I’ve done it in a year!
“After a 6.30am start from Clapham Common in the fog, I cycled through London, through Surrey and down to Sussex. Over the North Downs and then over Ditchling Beacon, I completed the ride in the sunshine on Brighton seafront.”
