CHARITY CARDS: Rickmansworth woman designing cards for CW Wildlife Rescue

Published on: 22nd March 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Rickmansworth resident is using her artistic talent to design greeting cards to raise money for local charity CW Wildlife Rescue. (CWWR)

Jean Armstrong has decided to create a range of greeting cards after the success of her Christmas card project for CWWR, from which she donated £1235.

Jean sells the cards at Robert Harris Jewelers on the High Street, where she has worked for more than 45 years. Many of the designs feature animals that CWWR owner Chris has rescued.

Jean told RickyNews: “Because of the success of my Christmas card range, I produced Easter cards which also sold well, and I now have a range of 10 general greeting cards.

“I saw what Chris was doing at CWWR on Facebook, I am a big animal lover myself and wanted to help. Chris has been delighted with the fundraising.”

Jean originally began producing greeting cards four years ago to raise money for charities supporting retired greyhounds, and in that time has donated nearly £18,000 through her card design sales.

Jean explained: “More and more people were coming into the shop and wanting designs of more animals. I started with greyhounds, then other breeds, then cats and now I do a whole range.

“The wildlife cards sell really well; I’ve had a great response from the community.”

The charity cards can be purchased from Jeans Facebook page ‘Blackrose Lexi Design Greetings Cards.’ or in person at Robert Harris Jewelers.
