Watford residents, charities and businesses are invited to attend the inaugural chairman’s Community Awards at Watford Football Club.

The awards will be recognising residents for their outstanding contribution to their local community and raising money for councillor Rabi Martins’ chosen charities, the Guideposts Trust and Signpost.

The event will be held at Watford Football Club on March 8, 2019 from 7pm to 11.30pm and will include live entertainment, a raffle and an auction.

Tickets are £45 per head or £350 for 10 people (including dinner) with all proceeds going to Guideposts Trust and Signpost.

For those attending, you could be in with the chance of winning a hospitality package at Watford Football Club, an excellent meal at the Grove or two tickets for a West End show.

A mental health champion for several years, the event is particularly important to the chairman, who has spent the last nine months of his year in office promoting the work of the Guideposts Trust and Signpost, fundraising for them through various activities and the gala dinner will be a key part of his fundraising.

Chairman of the council, cllr Rabi Martins said: “These awards are a great way to recognise the individuals who voluntarily help to support their communities and to raise money for my chosen charities. The event will help raise the profile of mental health and well-being within the town. I want to make Watford more inclusive for people who suffer from mental health issues.”

The awards identify people in the Watford who deserve recognition for the work that they do in their local community and who are going the extra mile to make Watford a great place to live, work and visit.

There are six awards, based on the county council divisions which include Central Watford and Oxhey, Meriden Tudor, Nascot Park, North Watford, West Watford and Woodside Stanborough.
