CCTV APPEAL: Man in his nineties has bank cards stolen near ATM in Shenley

Published on: 23rd October 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Officers have released photos of three people who might be able to help their enquiries following a theft in Shenley.

At around 10am on Tuesday, October 13, a man in his nineties was using the ATM at Tesco Express in Andrew Close when his bank cards were stolen by a group of people who claimed to be helping him use the machine.

Less than an hour later, the stolen cards were used in fraudulent transactions at Tesco Express in Radlett and Tesco Express in Leavesden, amounting to hundreds of stolen pounds.

PC Paul Francis, from the Potters Bar and Shenley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was a horribly callous crime, targeting a vulnerable victim and we are working hard to find those responsible.

“We believe that those pictured were in the area at the time of the offence and they could have vital information that will assist our enquiries. I appreciate that the male’s face is not visible but hopefully someone might recognise the distinctive clothing.

“If you recognise the people pictured or have information about what happened, please get in touch by calling the non-emergency number 101 or emailing me at paul.francis2@herts.pnn.police.uk quoting crime reference 41/82877/20.”

You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report or speak to an operator in the Force Communications Room via the online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
