Care home celebrates Mock Seder

Published on: 13th May 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A care home in Bushey held a Mock Seder for the Jewish Community.

Bushey House Beaumont invited Rabbi Kraft to host the feast which was honoured and enjoyed with the residents as well as friends and family of the home.

The Passover Seder is a Jewish ritual feast that marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. Typically held after nightfall on the first night of Passover, it marks the anniversary the miraculous exodus from Egyptian slavery more than 3,000 years ago.

Celebrated with both Jewish and non-Jewish residents, the team at Bushy House honoured the holiday with the traditional kosher foods prepared carefully by the hospitality team and was enjoyed with Manischewitz wine. Rabbi Kraft led the group with the singing and told traditional stories of the history of the Sader.

Azaad Saumtally, general manager at Bushey House Beaumont, said: “We have a strong Jewish Community here, and it is very important to us to honour all of the different religious events for everyone who lives at the home.

“We all learnt so much about the Jewish tradition of the Seder from Rabbi Kraft and our wonderful hospitality team went above and beyond for the traditional dishes. Each resident and guest had a wonderful time.”

Bushey House Beaumont Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Bushey House Beaumont provides residential care and nursing care for 59 residents from respite care to long term stays.
