A couple from Radlett were left in disbelief when their £70,000 Jaguar was written off by a parking company at the beginning of March.
Jeremy and Tracey left their car with the Luton Airport Priority Parking service, run by APCOA Parking, whilst they flew to Spain on holiday. They were shocked to hear on their return that their car was “not drivable”.
Speaking to Radlett News, the pair said: “We insisted on being taken to the car and discovered it was down an embankment. It had mown down a steel fence, become airborne, turned 180 degrees in the air, and crashed into the remaining fence on the other side.”
The insurers, who will be handling the case going forward, will only cover the value of the Jaguar, and not the £14,000 shortfall the pair still owe on finance.
The pair added: “No one from APCOA will talk to us. We have asked for an explanation but they won’t take our calls or answer our emails. We have contacted the CEO and several directors. None have replied.
“We feel violated and it costs nothing to apologise. They have caused us a huge amount of stress and financial loss for which we haven’t had the decency of any explanation whatsoever. For all we know, the driver who wrecked my pristine Jaguar is back at work without any repercussions.”
A spokesperson for APCOA Parking said: “This type of incident is very rare, and we are very sorry for the inevitable inconvenience that has been caused to Jeremy and Tracey.
“As well as offering our sincere apologies at the time of the event, we have been in constant communication with the customer and have taken a number of steps to support the customer while our insurers resolve the settlement, as well as refunding the parking charges.”
