A man is due to appear in court this month after being charged with arson after a car crashed through the front of the Co-op store in Croxley Green.
Police were called to the Co-op store, in New Road, at 5.06am on Sunday, December 10 to reports that a silver Vauxhall Zafira had collided with the store.
There was a small fire at the rear of the vehicle, which was extinguished. No-one was injured during the incident.
Daniel Chant, a 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested shortly afterwards.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, January 12.
Herts Fire Control tweeted after the incident. They said: “05:09 – Control mobilised @A07Fire to a vehicle in collision with a building on New Road, Croxley Green. A hosereel was used to extinguish the smoking vehicle and crew made safe.”
