Residents were awoken in the early hours of the morning today, March 6, to loud bangs and crackling near to their properties.
Upon looking outside their windows, a car was on fire in Tibbs Hill Road, near to the corner of Creasy Close in Abbots Langley.
Officers on patrol discovered the car just before 4.15am and the fire service attended to extinguish the fire.
No one was trapped in the vehicle.
Upon further inspections, it was established that the vehicle had been taken from outside an address in Sandringham Road, Watford, earlier that day.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information that could assist police is asked to report information online at herts.police.uk, via online webchat or by calling 101, quoting reference 41/21202/19.
