Rickmansworth Pancake Race returns to Rickmansworth High Street on Shrove Tuesday February 13 at 11am. Local businesses compete in a fun, pancake flipping relay! Teams are encouraged to wear fancy dress or company t-shirts as they race down the High Street, cheered on by the public.

The traffic stops, people line the high street, cheering on teams as they race down road vying to take the coveted winners shield.  Afterwards all the teams enjoy a celebratory pub lunch at the Coach & Horses, Rickmansworth.

The event, now in its 17th year, is organised by Watford Mencap and sponsored by Cityscape Recruitment.  Nathan Hall, Managing Director at Cityscape Recruitment said, ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor the Rickmansworth Pancake Race.  Having won the event last year we are hoping to hold on to the title this year, but most importantly we know by sponsoring the event we are helping raise money for local charity Watford Mencap”.

Amanda Jenshil, Community Fundraiser said, “The event is an annual tradition in Rickmansworth; it is always keenly contested! We hugely appreciate the support of the teams that enter. Last year we raised a fantastic £3200. This meant that eight children with a learning disability could attend our after school club for a term. We hope to raise enough to fund these children for another term this year.”

Watford Mencap is a local independent charity. They currently support 600 people in the local area with a learning disability and their carers.
