A boxing star from Bushey is gearing up for a truly mouth-watering fight next year when he will look to claim a British title. Miles Shinkwin is nearing a massive bout, and quite possibly the toughest so far of his career, as he attemps to beat Nottingham born Bob Ajisafe, the current British title holder. Miles told My Bushey News: “I was always said I wanted to win a British title and it looks like the fight will be happening late February or early March. “I fancy my chances brilliantly. I don’t think any light heavyweight in Britain can match me for speed and shot selection. Don’t get me wrong it’s definitely not an easy fight. He’s commonwealth champion and British champion. But people are there to be beaten. Miles, 27, has been keeping busy this year despite competing in just three fights. “I’ve learnt a lot this year. Behind the scenes with Groves in California for example has given me experience you just can’t buy,” Miles added. The highly anticipated match-up will pit the undefeated (in 12 fights) Shinkwin against Bob ‘Lionheart’ Ajisafe, who has won 16 of his 18 professional fights. Miles is buzzing to get into the ring and highlights just how much he wants this title. He said: “If you asked 100 boxers, 95 per cent would say they wanted to win the Lonsdale belt. It’s by far the best looking belt and every fighter would love to say they won a British title. “It’s what I’ve dreamed of and I’d be very proud to win one.”
Can he Shinkwin it?
