BYGONE ERA: Successful return of Amersham Heritage Day

Published on: 5th September 2022   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

The beloved Amersham Heritage Day returned to take over the town on September 4.

Attractions included a wonderful array of classic cars, from Austin 7s to minis, lining the High Street, as well as a display of steam, vintage and commercial vehicles and tractors.

Guided Town Walks gave a fascinating insight into the history of the town, its inhabitants, and its development. There was also “Tudor Taster Walks” which took residents through what it would be like to live and die in 16th century Amersham.

Steve Catanach of Amersham Town Council said: “Amersham came to a standstill once more for Amersham Heritage Day, the jewel in the crown of our busy civic event calendar.

“The sight of steam engines puffing past the Market Hall bought back memories of a bygone era, while adding interest to a day that had something for everyone.

“A huge thank you to all our residents and visitors who helped to make this community event such a success.”
