The Liberal Democrats have won a recent by-election on Abbots Langley Parish Council (ALPC) following the resignation of Vince Watts.
Hyde Lane resident Aidan Bentley was elected to the Bedmond Ward on Thursday, August 8, with a 61.5 per increase on the Liberal Democrat vote on the last by-election two years ago.
Overall, the Liberal Democrats received 136 votes, the Conservatives received 60, Labour received 22, and an independent candidates secured three votes.
Cllr Bentley said “Thank you for your support. I very much enjoyed speaking to so many residents and hearing your views.
“I will stand up for Bedmond no matter how you voted and work with our district and county councillors to get the best for this area.
“I am already pressing Herts County Council to restore the long- broken high speed barrier on Church Hill, opposite Serge Hill Lane. It’s been covered by plastic barriers for over a year.
“I will continue to support the district council’s plans to protect Bedmond’s green belt and rejection of large scale developments around the village.”
