As spring begins, you may spot an increase in buzzing friends flying around.
Members of the Pinner & Ruislip Beekeepers’ Association (PRBA) have been sharing their love for bees since 1954. Originating in Pinner Memorial Park, the group are now based in The Corbell Beekeeping Centre in Ruislip.
Speaking to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, PRBA
chairman Chris said: “I started beekeeping at university as I had to do an animal study, and it went on from there. It was only meant to be for a year, but I’ve now been doing it for 53 years.
“I think my favourite part is being close to the natural cycle of the year with nature. The bees are doing their thing, and you get lost in their little world!”
PRBA offers a beginner’s course, along with weekly meetings for the beekeepers to share their experiences, tips and advice. As well as caring for the hive at Ruislip High School, the group also take part in beekeeping events and host their own Honey Show to share what the busy bees have produced throughout the year.
