Residents have been appalled by the ever-growing pile of cigarette butts dropped on the kerbside.
Community stalwart Pat Waterton raised the issue on the Abbots Langley Really Matters Facebook group.
She stated: “This is the sorry state of the parking by Tanners Wood Hall – not the posts, the thousands of cigarette ends that have been steadily increasing for months.
“Such a shame when the rest of the village is kept so neat and tidy by the wonderful ladies in [community group] AIMS.”
Other residents concurred with her, with one describing the littering as “lazy and slovenly behaviour”, and another stating that “surely, using an ashtray is not that difficult”.
A Three Rivers District Council spokesperson said: “It’s always disappointing to see when people drop their litter irresponsibly when we strive to have a clean and green district.
“The council urges any litterbugs to rethink their behaviour and dispose of their rubbish properly and save themselves a potential fine.”
