Bushey residents protest against power plant application

Published on: 20th October 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

North Bushey residents expressed frustration after an application for an electricity plant was submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council. Residents gathered on Friday at the proposed Berry Grove Lane site to object to the plan to build a small standby electricity generation plant on Green Belt Land. Local Resident, Lisa Gomez, who leases the proposed site to graze her horses, was the only resident in the area to be notified about the application; in her own time she informed the majority of residents in the surrounding area. She commented: “I went door to door knocking and a lot of residents were in shock they hadn’t been informed, although the plans are on Hertsmere website many people I spoke to didn’t have access to the internet.” The residents were also objecting to the proposed plan as the site is a flood plain. Lisa added: “We don’t want this going ahead, in the winter the site goes under water; if there is a concrete building on the site there will be an over spill of water and it won’t be long until residents are flooded.” The electricity plant will also affect the wild life in the area which currently homes a pillar box for bats. The planning application can be viewed at the Hertsmere website but quoting reference 14/1365/FUL. What are your thoughts on the matter? Email leigh@mynewsmag.co.uk
