A Garston school recently secured second place in a prestigious national badminton tournament.
The Parmiter’s School team joined other young players from across the country for the National Schools Championships at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes in March.
Four winners were crowned from the 32 teams participating in the finals day.
After a tough set of games, the Garston side were defeated 3-2 by Reading School in the KS4 Boys final.
As well as providing the opportunity for some excellent sporting performances, the Young Leader Academy allowed the young officials to take to the umpire’s chair throughout the weekend. Fifteen young leaders from across the county volunteered their time to officiate, including a Year 7 student from Watford Grammar School for Boys.
Young people manager Louise Hewitt, who presided over the event, said: “What a brilliant weekend, full of colour, smiles, skill and passion. I can’t wait for 2026!”
