BRILL BOOKS: Annual community book festival in Tring hailed a major success

Published on: 29th November 2024   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Despite the digital age changing the landscape of reading, the celebration of paperback books is still alive and kicking thanks to the annual Tring Book Festival.

From Friday, November 1, to Saturday, November 16, Our Bookshop hosted the annual Tring Book Festival, featuring a star-studded line-up of authors, TV stars, politicians and athletes.

Residents heard from the likes of comedian David Baddiel, TV star Vanessa Phelps, football legend Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and more as they discussed their latest releases.

Speaking to TRINGnews, Our Bookshop owner and Tring Book Festival organiser Ben Moorhouse said: “This is our fifth festival, and since its inception in 2019, we have built up a great reputation locally and within the publishing industry.

“We’ve become a primary stop-off point for authors on promotional tours, which makes creating schedules for the festival much easier. This line-up was really impressive. We had well-known authors, and a heap of fascinating individuals.”

From discussions about fungi with Richard Fortey to Michael Sheridan discussing The Red Emperor, the festival had it all. Ben particularly enjoyed meeting Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara, who he said was “lovely”.

He added: “I want to thank the Tring community and beyond for all the support this year, not just for the bookshop, but the festival and our other events throughout the year. I also want to thank all the supporters who helped at the festival!”

Coming up on Thursday, January 16, the bookshop has organised an event with Sara Davies MBE at High Street Baptist Church. To find out more, head to www.tringbookfestival.co.uk
