Jaimie Gregory, 13, who is a student at York House in Croxley Green, has been signed for the Harlequins Under 13 Development side after impressing in a trial over the February half term.
After West Sussex Academy, who Jaimie also plays for, were asked to send some of their most promising players over to Harlequins for a trial, he jumped at the opportunity and has been one of the lucky ones to have been selected by the famous rugby club.
His mum, Emma said: “He’s so happy to have been selected for the development side. He’s been playing the sport since he was around three years old, so it’s a huge passion of his.
“He’s pretty much always played rugby, and he went over to Japan last year to support his beloved England in the Rugby World Cup.
“His dream is to one day go professional, but he’s over the moon to have been selected after his trial.”
Jaimie’s connection to Sussex is that he was born in Brighton and has also been playing for Worthing Rugby Club
He will now be making the hour-long trip to Harlequins to train and play once a month with the Harlequins U13 Development team.
He also had the opportunity to play against a Welsh academy side at Cardiff Arms Park in February with Worthing and was on the winning side of a 70-0 thrashing.
