A group raising money for a new playground on Bernard’s Heath in St Albans has come up with a unique way to fundraise in its final stages.
The Let’s Play at Bernards Heath charity is launching the ‘Buy-a-Brick’ campaign, offering the chance for people to donate money in return for a professionally engraved paving brick placed at the entrance to the park, as a nod to the area’s brick-making past.
The charity has already raised £75,000 for the project, with this new initiative helping to reach the £100,000 target.
For a suggested minimum donation of £100, single bricks hold two lines of text and double pavers four lines, with 16 characters per line permitted.
The charity is inviting organisations and companies to consider having their logo proudly displayed on the playground’s Benefactors’ Board in exchange for a donation.
David Pearce, chairman of Let’s Play at Bernards Heath, said: “The new playground will benefit hundreds of families nearby. It’s no longer a question of whether there’ll be a new play area; it’s all about how amazing we can make the new playground.”
