A second man has been charged with murder in relation to the killing of Amjad Hussain in Watford in October 2021.
Police were called to a property in Fuller Road on the evening of Thursday, October 28, following reports of a serious assault. Officers attended alongside colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service and the air ambulance team, however despite the best efforts of paramedics Amjad sadly passed away at the scene.
His son, Husnein Amjad of Fuller Road, Watford, was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum sentence of 17 years in December 2023.
Following further intelligence that came to light this year, yesterday officers arrested a 44 year old man in connection with the incident. Zaheer Abbas, of Weldale Street, Reading, was subsequently charged with murder. He was also known to the victim.
Abbas appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court this morning and has been remanded in custody, ahead of his next appearance at St Albans Crown Court on June 25.
