A teenage boy who fell from a height at St Joan of Arc School in Rickmansworth was subsequently airlifted to London for treatment.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 11.45am on February 7 to reports that a teenage boy had fallen from a height at St Joan of Arc School in Rickmansworth. An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. The boy was airlifted to a hospital in London for further treatment.”
Mrs B O’Hanlon, Head of St Joan of Arc School said:“On Friday 7 February we took an urgent decision to close the school early following an incident involving a pupil. The pupil in question remains seriously ill and our thoughts are with him, his family and his friends at this time.
“We ask that parents, students and the wider community respect the privacy of the pupil in question and refrain from speculation as to the cause.
“The matter is now being investigated by Hertfordshire Police, but we can reassure parents after reviewing CCTV footage that no third parties were involved.”
Rickmansworth News has received unconfirmed reports that the boy allegedly fell from a set of stairs.
