BREAKING NEWS: Emergency services confirm death following Bushey fire

Police were called by the fire service at 6.38pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 11), following reports of a fire at a residential property on Hartsbourne Close in Bushey Heath.

Emergency services attended the scene and road closures remain in place. One person inside the address was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

While formal identification is yet to take place, family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

Assistant chief fire officer Andy Hall said: “On arrival, crews were confronted with a severe fire affecting a large domestic property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to search for reports that one person was unaccounted for.

“Despite their best efforts, one person had sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with their family, friends, and loved ones at this very difficult time.

“Two firefighters required hospital assessment and have since been discharged. I would like to thank them, and all crews involved, for their professionalism and dedication during this challenging incident.”

Many throughout the Bushey community have expressed their sympathy to all those involved in the tragic incident across social media.

One resident said: “Sending my condolences to the family and friends of the victim involved in this awful incident. Must have been a scary thing to witness for the residents of Hartsbourne Road and the surrounding area. My heartfelt thanks to all the fire brigade and emergency services crews who acted with bravery at the scene.”
