Kings Langley Bowls Club will be playing for Hertfordshire in a carpet bowls match against Essex, members will also be taking part in the county fours competition.
This is after one of the teams reached the quarter finals of the county triples competition in February, the club’s aim is now to equal the success shown by outdoor members of the club last season.
The outdoor ladies section bowled their way to the finals of the St Albans double rink competition where they narrowly lost to a strong team from Hatfield.
Ladies and men instead achieved greater joint success after playing against Berkhamsted, Potten End, Tring, Hemel Hempstead, Kitcheners, and Bovingdon, which led the club to win the Dacorum Charity Shield.
John Bates from SWR Installations – sponsor of the competition – presented the trophy, a cheque for £550 and also £100 from Dacorum Sports Network during the club’s presentation dinner.
The money were then donated by the club to the Hospice of St Francis, their designated charity for this competition.
The new bowls season is due to start at the end of April with the annual match against Abbots Langley.
This will be followed by the Club’s Open Day on May 3 – unless anything changes due to the coronavirus outbreak.
