As another bowls season comes to a close, Rickmansworth Bowls Club (RBC) can look back with pride on a year packed with achievements.
RBC’s Men’s Vets Green Team capped off a strong campaign by finishing 2nd in the Vets Second Division, earning them promotion to the First Division for 2026.
On the ladies’ side, RBC’s Watford & District team fought hard throughout the season, securing a respectable 6th place in their league.
In external competitions, Rickmansworth sides and individuals shone brightly. The Men’s County League team secured 2nd place in their group. RBC’s Fours team also made their mark, finishing 3rd in the Watford & District Gala.
On the individual stage, Jake Bishop reached an impressive four county semi-finals, while Roger Barton reached the National Para Singles Finals.
RBC was also at the heart of some thrilling Watford & District competitions. The Men’s Vets Singles Final was an all-Rickmansworth affair, with Ian Jacklin edging out Nick Bessant in a high-quality contest. Meanwhile, the 2024 champions, RBC’s Men’s Vets Fours team, battled their way to consecutive finals, this time finishing runners-up.
Back at the club, the Finals Weekend on September 13 and 14 once again provided a fitting climax to the season, drawing a lively crowd to watch some fiercely contested matches. Special mention goes to RBC’s new club champions, Steve Daniels and Denise Starkey.
