A fundraiser has raised almost £1,500 for a Garston man after his van was set alight and his tools were stolen.
Léon Dominion, a local painter and decorator, appealed for the community’s help after his van was broken into on Saturday, February 22, when it was parked on The Gossamers.
Work tools worth around £4,000 were stolen, before the van itself was set on fire.
A total of £1,458 has been raised so far from 30 donations, after Mr Dominion set the goal at £1,800.
He wrote: “I believe all things happen for a reason; for this, the reason is yet unknown. All I want to be able to do is what I love, an honest day’s graft painting and decorating and improving people’s homes. Perhaps the community can help me bounce back from this chapter.”
A spokesperson for the police said: “An investigation has been carried out however all lines of enquiry have now been exhausted. Any new information that comes to light will be acted on accordingly.”
