A woman from Watford has triumphed on Dragons’ Den, securing a deal worth £60,000 and pushing sales figures through the roof.
Caroline Sims put her best foot forward in the den on March 23 to promote her plant-based skincare and supplement brand, Botanycl, to the dragons.
The brand, which delivers a range of plant-based supplements targeted at specific health concerns including immune support and mood, went down well with Steven Bartlett and Peter Jones CBE, who teamed up to offer Caroline a £60,000 deal.
Speaking to WATFORDNEWS, Caroline said she decided to set up Botanycl after struggling with her own skin and her self-esteem was at “rock bottom”.
She said: “I had problem skin and had breakouts around my lower facial area and my cheeks. It was during a time when I was very insecure already.
“I had come out of a difficult relationship and was single for the first time in a long time and my skin became worse than it ever had been before. My confidence plummeted and I stopped going out and socialising.
“I tried lots of different things but there was nothing on the market at the time which would help balance my hormones. I researched herbal ingredients I could use and didn’t expect anything, but within two weeks my skin was almost clear.”
Speaking about the weeks since Dragons’ Den, Caroline said: “It has been really crazy. I did not expect this volume of interest; all my stockists have sold out and I’ve had to rush an order it.”
Caroline added that it has been great working with the dragons so far; Steven has been helping with social media and Peter is assisting with brand expansion.
