A crash on the M1 is causing delays and blocking the carriageway this afternoon.
The crash happened at the northbound carriageway on the M1 between Junction 8 for the A414 at Hemel Hempstead and Junction 9 at the A5183 for Redbourn.
Emergency services rushed to the scene.
Highways England informed commuters about the closure of lanes three and four. There’s congestion building on the approach.
Traffic is queuing for five miles and normal traffic conditions are not expected until after 6pm.
Highways England tweeted: “The #M1 northbound #J8 (#A414 #HemelHempstead) to #J9 (#A5183 #Redbourn) 2 lanes have been closed due to a collision. Traffic Officers @roadpoliceBCH @HertsFRSControl & @EastEnglandAmb are currently at the scene. Congestion building on the approach.”
