One of two teenagers killed by a train in Elstree last night is believed to be 15-year-old Charleigh Disbrey, British Transport Police have confirmed. An 18-year-old boy also died in the incident, with both pronounced dead at Elstree and Borehamwood station. Both teenagers attended Hertswood Academy. PA statement on Hertswood Academy’s website reads: “At the start of the school day today we were contacted by the British Transport Police to inform us of an incident that had occurred overnight involving two of our students. From the details that we have been given we believe that two of our students, one in year 10, and one in year 13, have tragically died. Students and staff have been informed this morning and we are offering counselling to those affected by this tragedy. We will be closely monitoring the wellbeing of all students in the coming days and offering any necessary support. Our thoughts are obviously with the parents and families of those who have died and we would ask all to respect their privacy at this most difficult time.” Circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear but the pair are thought to have been hit by a train near Elstree and Borehamwood Station. All trains were suspended for just over an hour and relief drivers were sent to move the train. One of the southbound lines reopened at 22:00 and one of the northbound lines at 22:19. Services were delayed by some 90 minutes. For more, see July’s My Borehamwood News, out June 28
