Police were called at around 1.40pm this afternoon (Tuesday, September 13) to report that a suspicious device had been found in the back garden of a property in Belmont Hill, St Albans.
Officers attended and as a precaution road closures and a cordon have been put in place. Properties within the cordon have been evacuated.
A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We kindly advise motorists to please seek an alternative route whilst the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Specialists respond to the incident.”
Trained to detect, disarm and dispose of explosive threats in the most extreme environments, EOD technicians are often assigned to the most dangerous of missions.
