Billy’s Wish thanks Parmiter’s students for fundraising efforts

A Year 8 form from Partmiter’s School have been thanked for their fundraising efforts for anti-knife crime charity, Billy’s Wish.

Students in the form, especially Adam Mclennan who nominated Billy’s Wish to be the charity they fundraised for, held a cake sale which raised £160.

Aswell as organising a cake sale, Adam worked with his class to share Billy’s story and raise awareness around the school about the work they do in educating young people about the dangers of knife crime and how to stay safe.

Billy’s Wish was set up in honour of Billy Dove who was stabbed to death in 2011.

Katharine Harper, who works at Billy’s Wish said it is nice to know the work they do isn’t just lip service.

She said: “It was also nice because we know that it’s not just lip service – the kids really took the message on and it’s good to see because that’s what the wish from Billy’s Wish is all about.”

A spokesperson said: “Every time an event like this is organised by young people themselves it lifts us here at Billy’s Wish. Every conversation prompted by Billy’s story keeps the issue at the front of people’s minds and hopefully makes a difference to the choices they make.”
