A team of staff from a Chalfont St Peter care home braved a cold November bike ride to raise money for charity.
Workers at Chalfont Lodge, run by Barchester Healthcare, took on the gruelling challenge of a 63-mile trip around ten of the company’s car homes on Sunday, November 28.
Starting at Magnolia House in Hampstead at 6:30 in the morning, the team battled their way through the blistering cold, water-logged roads and even some snowy conditions to get to Ashford House in Stanwell at the respectable time of 5:30pm.
The challenge was set up to raise money for two charities: Macmillian Cancer Support and Barchester Healthcare’s very own charitable foundation.
Leader of the pack and regional director, Wayne Hughes, said: “Despite the freezing conditions, it was a fantastic day and all the support we had along the way did wonders to keep us warm and spur us on.
“We are all delighted at the amount we raised, thanks to everyone who bought a coffee and a cupcake, donated and cheered us on along the way – we’re so grateful.”
Raj Boodhoo, General Manager at Chalfont Lodge, said: “I didn’t feel the cold, due to all the adrenaline, I felt fantastic, it was a brilliant day. I was supported by my whole team at Chalfont Lodge and welcomed to Ashford with fireworks!
“What a day. I am so glad I could support Wayne achieve his target and raise money for such good causes!”
