BIG SWING: Father and son ‘doing things differently’ with golf simulation in Kings Langley

Published on: 25th January 2025   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Uncategorized

Wet and windy weather won’t stop golfers in Kings Langley from getting a hole in one this year, as a father and son duo have opened a new simulation project.

At SimTec Golf, which opened at Kingley Park on Saturday, December 28, residents will be able to try out three Trackman iO simulators to improve their skills, learn a new sport or spend an afternoon with friends and family.

After 50 years in the golfing industry, it was par for the course for Neil Martin to be part of the movement towards future golfing practices.

With his shop in Hemel Old Town being a popular spot for local golfers, Neil and his son Ollie were aware of the lack of simulators in the area.

Though Neil has spent time running golf ranges and his shop, his son Ollie is newer to the business.

Speaking to KINGSnews, Ollie said: “It’s the way forward nowadays with golf – people don’t have four hours to play on a golf course, so this gives people their time back.

“We are doing it a little differently to other simulations which are more food-related; we are focused more on golf and helping people improve.

“We want to have regulars and get to know people, even if they just want to pop in for a coffee.”

Though the simulators will help beginners master basic techniques, they will also provide professionals with detailed insight into how to improve.

For Ollie, this business has become a new passion as he is learning the ropes of golf himself.

He joked: “The simulations are perfect for me because you don’t lose your ball all the time.”

Thankfully for Ollie and other beginners, two PGA pros have signed up and will be offering one-to-one and group sessions.
