Flying balls, bacon rolls, and an uninvited appearance of rain could only mean one thing in the village – the Croxley Tennis Club Finals Day.
On Saturday, July 19, the club held an event to rival Wimbledon with singles, doubles, mixed and junior matches – all served alongside delicious food and Sri Lankan snacks.
The day kicked off with the Ladies’ Singles Final, which showcased “class, grit, and very determined footwork”, while the Men’s Plate Doubles displayed “big serves, bigger banter, and plenty to play for”.
Noah and Mike won the title with a “well-earned victory” and Evie was named champion of the ladies’ final.
The action kept coming as Tom was crowned the Men’s Single Plate Champion, before Noah and Laura clinched the Mixed Doubles Champion title.
Club chairman Mike Coster said: “The day started out wet and a little miserable but true Croxley spirit overcame the weather, and all finals planned were completed. Celebrations and commiserations carried on into the night. Thank you to all those that played their part in a part in a lovely day.”
