Tickets are on sale for a performance in St Albans that will help raise money for the Ver Valley Society (VVS).

A contemporary take on Henrik Ibsen’s 1882 play An Enemy of the People will be performed at the Abbey Theatre at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 15.

Money raised will go to VVS, a group aiming to protect and promote all aspects of the River Ver.

Performed by A Company of Ten, St Albans’ oldest and most prestigious theatrical group, the play focuses on Dr Teresa Stockmann, a passionate and dedicated medical officer who discovers that her town’s famed spa water is contaminated.

A spokesperson for VVS said: “This is the big one. There will be a special performance of this topical play with receipts going to support the society’s River Ver water testing programme, where each accredited laboratory test costs us almost £200.

“Please come along and bring your friends. It’ll be a great VVS social occasion.”

Tickets cost £15. For more information, please visit www.riverver.co.uk/an-enemy-of-the-people
