The summer season of free live shows in Cassiobury Park begins this Sunday (3 June) as part of Watford Borough Council’s Big Bandstand extravaganza.
The free performances will run from 2-4pm every Sunday until 23 September, beginning this week with acoustic talent Sienna Melella.
Plus, watch out for a series of free transatlantic shows by the toe-tappingly tantalising Voyageurs Ambassadors of Music (USA), spanning a range of dates in June and July.
Their first show will run from 12noon-2pm on Friday 15 June – with a set by bands from Georgia and Florida.
The full line-up can be found at watfordbigevents.co.uk/bigbandstand
Peter Taylor, elected Mayor of Watford, said: “It’s great that we can experience such excellent local and international performances right here in our own town. I’m looking forward to welcoming our American friends back to Cassiobury for a second year. It is testament to the success of Cassiobury – voted one of the UK’s top 10 parks – that we can attract such global talent.”
The bandstand – near The Cha Café and the park’s Shepherds Road entrance – was extensively refurbished and returned to its original Cassiobury home as part of a £6.6m regeneration project.
The project was funded by the council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.
The Big Bandstand is in its second year as part of the council’s series of Big Events in Cassiobury Park and Watford town centre.
The Big Screen will run from 6-22 July and the Big Beach from 4-19 August on The Parade by the pond in the town centre.
