Radlett’s Belstone FC are hopeful that this could be the year they finally secure promotion to Step 6 of the English football pyramid.

The club, which was founded in 1983, has been ensconced in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division, despite winning it multiple times.

To be allowed to advance into the league above Belstone must significantly improve its facilities.

Radlett News spoke to founding member and groundsman Glynne Cherrington, who outlined how the club are “reasonably confident” of making the necessary adjustments, though still need to raise approximately £150,000 to their dream fulfilled.

The bulk of the costs will be going on installing floodlights, which needs to be in place by the beginning of September.

Before then, a number of changes need to be made by March 31, including extending the pitch by two metres, improving the away dressing room, and introducing a second sex officials changing room.

Glynn and the club are keeping their “fingers crossed” to raise the money and make the deadlines, and that the first team continue their good form and secure promotion on the pitch.

Residents are encouraged to head down to the Medburn Ground and support the team in what could be an historic season.
