BEHIND BARS: Paedophile arrested in Bovingdon jailed for 42 months

A man who thought he was having sexual conversations with three underage girls online was caught by paedophile hunters.

Geoffrey Sendall, 33, was jailed for 42 months today (Wednesday, April 26) after being tracked down to a shop in Bovingdon by the group, who contacted Hertfordshire police.

St Albans Crown Court heard that over a 15-month period Sendall posed as a 21-year-old as he chatted to the fictitious girls, who were said to be aged between 13 and 15.

He encouraged them to send him pictures and to sexually touch themselves.

Sendall, now of Uttoxeter New Road, Derby, appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty to attempting to incite girls aged 13 to 15 to engage in penetrative sexual activity. He also admitted failing to register his new address.

Pre Brada, defending, said Sendall had suffered childhood trauma and had been abusing alcohol and drugs. She said he had anxiety, depression and night terrors and was on the prison mental health service’s waiting list.

She said: “At the time he was having problems with the structure of his life and with accommodation.”

Jailing him, Judge Caroline Wigin said: “You were involved in grooming behaviour, requested sexual images and lied about your age.”

He must register as a sex offender and abide by the terms of a sexual harm prevention order for life.
