BEEHIVE STOLEN FROM RADLETT FARM

Published on: 20th October 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

An unusual item was stolen from a Radlett farm earlier this month, and police are appealing for witnesses. Officers investigating the theft of a beehive are seeking help to identify those who are responsible for taking it. The theft occurred between 4.30pm on Friday, January 3 and 10.30am on Monday, January 6 at a farm in Watling Street. The offender(s) gained access to an orchard in the farm and stole the beehive – it did not contain any bees or honey. The beehive is a white classic WBC hive; it has a pitched roof and is made of solid cedar. It does not contain internal ‘S’ frames, which would be needed to house bees. PC Philip Tuck, investigating, said: “This is a very unusual item to have been stolen and it is very distinctive. I am appealing to anyone who may know of its whereabouts, or has been offered it for sale, to contact me immediately. “If anyone has any other information relating to this theft, for example if they saw an unusual vehicle or person(s) in the area over the weekend, then I urge them to contact me.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Tuck via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, citing crime reference number J1/14/44. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
