A group of young girls from Croxley have been crafting and selling bracelets for charity.
Sisters Heidi, 10, and Marnie, eight, along with their friend Scarlet, 10, decided to sell their handmade bracelets and unwanted toys to raise funds for Diabetes UK. The charity is close to the girls’ hearts, as Marnie is a type 1 diabetic, and one of Scarlet’s friends also lives with the same condition.
Speaking to CROXLEYnews, Heidi and Marnie’s mum Helen Elliott said: “To hear them say they want to donate to that charity made me burst with pride.”
On Saturday, April 6, the team set up a stall outside their house, and were delighted when a hoard of neighbours turned up to buy their creations.
Helen continued: “The girls were given the biggest buzz and were so excited.
“As the evening went on, I posted how well they had done on the Croxley Facebook group (also to thank everyone for their kind support), and more people came forward wanting to make donations. It made me the proudest mum and I know that Scarlet’s parents, Tina and Stuart, are equally proud.”
The girls raised £220 for the charity, and are busy making plans for their next fundraiser.
