Watford Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Dan Jones said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who recognises the people in the images as it is believed they were in the area at the time of the respective incidents.
“Since 1 October, we have received more than 40 reports of theft from a person. On most of these occasions, mobile phones have been taken. We have been taking robust action, which has included running plain clothed operations in the town and we continue to work closely with the Atria, Watford BID and other partners.
“As we enter the festive season, we’d like to remind everyone to please be vigilant when out and about. We offer the following advice to help deter any opportunistic thieves:
· Don’t leave your handbag, purse/wallet or valuables unattended in public view.
· Use a handbag that can be closed properly so it is harder for someone to reach in.
· Attach purse bells to your purse, wallet or other valuable items.
· Wear your bag diagonally across or at the front of your body or use a secret pocket wallet.
· When using self-service tills, always hide your pin and make sure you close your bag before you leave the store.
· Don’t be distracted when using and then immediately after using a cashpoint machine.
· Be aware of people around you.
