The Sarcoma team from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital have been honoured with a Macmillan Professional Excellence award for their support towards people living with cancer in Harrow.

Macmillan’s awards aim to highlight and celebrate the professionals and teams who have gone above and beyond expectations supporting people living with cancer.

On the Sarcoma team, Macmillan said the team embedded personalised cancer care into their service, and implemented innovative techniques to meet patient’s holistic needs.

Suzy Hudson, personalised cancer care lead, accepted the Quality Improvement Excellence award on behalf of the Sarcoma Team at the RNOH.

She said: “The RNOH AHP and CNS Sarcoma Team were extremely proud to be awarded a national Macmillan Professionals Excellence Award at the annual Macmillan Conference.

“The award recognises the work the team has put in place to embed Personalised Cancer Care and stratified follow-up into the sarcoma patient pathway to improve patient care and experience.

“It was an extremely rigorous selection process to become a winner, which started in early June 2022. There were many stages to finally become a winner, including interviews, written statements, sessions with a copywriter and a photographer, all of which makes us even more delighted to be chosen as a winner.

“It is an enormous achievement to be considered for these prestigious awards and we are immensely pleased that the work of the RNOH Sarcoma Team has been acknowledged nationally.”
