Four competition winners from Hertfordshire schools were honoured with an adventure day at Northwood HQ.
The Hertfordshire Heroes Christmas Art competition is organised annually by Hertfordshire County Council. The competition saw 780 children from 29 schools across the county create artwork for military personnel serving away from their families at Christmas.
The Christmas Art competition and Day of Adventure are part of the Hertfordshire Armed Forces Covenant Board’s attempts to connect military and civilian communities with local families and create an opportunity to discover more about each other.
For the first time this year, the winners were also joined by four children from local military families, helping to further cement the connection between the two communities.
The children (and their parents/carers) spent the day rock climbing, participating in team sports, learning about camouflage, shelter and fire building, and meeting the Commanding Officer.
The winning children who were invited to attend the event were Kaiqi from De Havilland School, Poppy from Lime Walk, Mason from Countess Anne School and Lizzy from Chambersbury Primary School.
