Business owners on Rickmansworth high street were delighted to reopen from 12 April and organised an artistic event to mark the day in the community and encourage people to shop locally.
Art students at Joan of Arc School attended the event and helped brighten up the high street by creating colourful street art outside the shops as part of their A-Level projects.
Esther Murphy, Founder of The Sinclair Gallery said: “The students were amazing and the High Street was buzzing, I had balloons and cupcakes and professional photographers. The kids spent the day outside The Sinclair Gallery, Café Deli 122, Wishful Drinking and Trend & Thomas.
“Locals loved it and other businesses wanted to take part so I will be organising more of these community days with Belinda Jane from Trend and Thomas. I would like to involve more local children next time to take advantage of our new pedestrianisation of the High Street.”
