A man has been charged following an incident in Watford over the weekend.
On Sunday, May 21, at around 9.26pm, police were called to reports that a man had entered the McDonalds in The Parade, High Street and had gone behind the counter, before stealing food to the value of £40.
When a member of staff confronted him, he alleged that he had a knife, though no weapons were seen.
The man then left the shop, reportedly approaching members of the public in the street and behaving aggressively towards them.
Officers arrested a man in the High Street in connection with the incident, and he was taken into police custody.
Elliot Belsham, 35, from Watford, was subsequently charged with robbery, being drunk and disorderly in a public place, public nuisance, and common assault. He appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning (Tuesday, May 23), where he was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
