Officers are appealing for information and witnesses after racing pigeons were stolen from a garden in St Albans. Between 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 2 and 2pm on Thursday, March 3, offender(s) have gained access to a coup in Beech Road and have taken a number of racing pigeons. Several pigeons were also killed and left behind. PC John Cooper, who is investigating, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between the times stated. “I am also keen to speak to anyone involved in the sport of pigeon racing who may have been offered the birds for sale for breeding purposes. “The victim is appealing to those who took the pigeons to set them free so that they can fly home.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC John Cooper via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/16/853. Alternatively, you can contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will never need to go to court.
